For one full year, Ivo Martin Alcazar Balarezo lived in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky.
He ate traditional Southern cuisine.
He watched horses race.
He went to a baseball game.
He attended local events like a champ, including but not limited to…
He lived in a land-locked apartment.
He got to see the leaves begin to change.
He watched South American sports…
He put up with wildlife.
He took his hot wife to Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon!
He came to understand what I meant when I said, “Ft. Thomas is a dog town.”
He patiently provided emotional support as I decorated the ENTIRE house for Christmas…
…and then he stepped up and bartended dad’s office Christmas party.
He helped me buy ridiculously fun but unnecessary gadgets for Mr. Mike.
In summary, the US Government should just print Ivo up a damn passport right now.
He is arguably more American than me.
Finally though, 2015 is over. We got to know our wonderful neighbors better. We ate more soul food and drank more bourbon than we probably should have. We spent about every waking minute bonding with the Federle half of our multicultural family. It was awesome. On January 18, 2016, though, we finally answered the salty call of the Pacific ocean and boarded a plane for Lima, Peru.
This is it, folks! Year 2 of Lima, Peru has commenced!
LET’S DO IT!
